English newspapers have five elements: public, frugality, interesting, timeliness and objectivity. There is a regulate page make-up; a short headline; precise sentences; distinguish language in English newspapers. Usually we should have a glance of the title and lead word first, then choose something we are interested in to read, which we can get some useful information quickly. That’s the understanding of passage background. And it also creates a relaxed atmosphere and stimulates students’ reading interests before reading.
